Strawberry Picking in La Trinidad, Benguet

You have no idea how long I’d been wanting to go strawberry picking in Benguet. It’s actually the main reason why I was so excited for our Baguio trip. I so wanted to pick strawberries and take them and bake Strawberry Shortcake ala Sakura the Cardcaptor. But I don’t know how to bake and we devoured the strawberries right after arriving at our dorm. We did try a Strawberry Shortcake from one of the cafes in Baguio, though!

The Strawberry Farm is located in La Trinidad, Benguet which is about 30 minutes from Baguio City. We rode a jeepney from Rizal Park just behind Burnham Park and slept all the way from Baguio to La Trinidad. Heh heh.

It was as fun as I imagined. I was so happy picking strawberries. There’s no other way to describe it besides feel na feel. Ha! I savored every moment, you know! But since a kilo of your own harvested strawberry is worth double than the one in the market (PHP350/kilo), Eunise, Iris and I shared the one kilo of strawberries. Ehehe. It was more than enough for the three of us (then we bought strawberries outside for pasalubong lol).

After about 30 minutes of picking, I still didn’t get the grasp of the right way to do it. I also chose the big ones because I like biting on it instead of the bite-sized ones. It was so yummy I wanted to cry. Everytime I go to the grocery, I am tempted to buy strawberries because I missed it so much. But it’s expensive and I can’t afford strawberries sold in the city. ;__;

Before leaving the farm, I tried the strawberry ice cream sold outside! Yay. I’ve tried the strawberry taho before, but I didn’t like it. But this strawberry-flavored dirty ice cream was yummy, and I can come back for it.

If you’re in Baguio, I’ll definitely recommend going to the strawberry farm during one of your visits. It’s a nice escape from the crowded city, and besides, yummy strawberries everywhere!
