It has been a year since I joined my company, and I must say that it passed quite quickly! Sure, the days seem longer when I’m waiting for the next pay day (heh), but I always feel like September 2010 was just last month.
I wouldn’t go far in saying that I have the perfect job. On normal days, I’d just like to sleep in and skip work like any normal employee. (Don’t tell me you love to go to work every effin’ day. I’d call you weird. Ha.) But it’s not so bad. I do have an office job, and it gets quite repetitive at times. It also have its perks, though, and I believe I have a good job.
I know I don’t talk much about my work, because there’s not much to talk about. There are times when I don’t feel like doing it anymore! I just miss being a bum. Heh. But there are reasons why I’m still here after a year.
1. Flexible time
This is the best part really. I can go to work anytime I want. It’s easy enough to work around my schedule. Whenever I have to go anywhere, I just have to go to work early so I can leave early, too. I don’t even have to worry about being late. I have this wish that all my future jobs will have a flexible schedule, too.
2. The most amazing officemates
I guess it has something to do with our age? We’re just so youthful. Heh. It’s easy to get along with everyone since we’re all almost of the same age. Okay, I’m not close with everyone of course. My shy nature (more like anti-social nature) still gets the better of me sometimes. But I truly like my officemates. With the amount of bickering going on every minute, it’s amazing how people don’t fight at all.
3. Internet connection all day
I’m easily pleased. Just sit me in front of a computer with an internet connection and I’m good. I don’t know. My parents and sister thought I wouldn’t last in an office job. I thought so, too. But my job requires me to be online 8 hours a day, how can I not like this job? What’s even more amazing is that we’re not really blocked on any website. Except Friendster for some weird reason.
4. Undemanding job
I get a little paranoid when people make me explain my job. All I know is that I have to write all day, and I’m in my comfort zone when all I have to do is write. I don’t get stressed at all in my job but that’s quite misleading because I don’t get stressed over anything. Heh. I’m a laid-back person and this job is perfect for me, okay. Writing + going online = perfect.
There are rules in the office, of course, but the management is still pretty lax. The minimal rules are easy enough to follow. As long as you do what you’re supposed to do and don’t slack off, then you won’t be told off.
5. Food fest
I blame this job for the 4 kilos I gained over the year. Sob sob. There’s always food! Since we’re allowed to eat in our workstation, I find myself eating all the time. For some reason, sitting all days makes me hungrier than usual. Also, there’s always someone treating everyone. Birthdays are the best. Dear officemates, thank you for fatting me up.
I initially planned to write twelve reasons but my other seven reasons seem to be too petty. Hrhr. I wish I have more inspiring reasons why I love this job. Ah, whatever.
